Nothing quite says Spring like a Jacaranda in full swing and they’re blooming everywhere right now. From Kirribilli to Parramatta Park the majestic purple canopy covers many Sydney Streets. But did you know there’s a regional town that is giving all of them a run for their money?
Grafton in the Northern Rivers region is the jacaranda capital of NSW and is currently hosting 10 glorious days of celebration to this all too brief natural wonder.
Ride a bike, drive your car or take a stroll along Dobie, Turf and Pound streets and see for yourself what all the fuss is about. Organised walking tours are also available from 9.30am outside Jaca HQ, Prince Street. The 2.5 kilometre walk takes around 2 hours. You’ll be rewarded with an ice cream at the end. Guess what colour?
If you’ve got more time on your hands, treat yourself to the Jacaranda Art Trail. An all-day bus tour which showcases the talents of the entire Clarence Valley.
For those not exhausted by the end of their day – there’s pub crawls, entertainment (Bob Downe, Ian Moss, Troy Cassar-Daly) and gin tastings throughout the calendar.
Grafton is 7 hours north of Sydney. Instagrammers take note!
